Best WordPress Form Plugins: Which One to Buy
The WordPress form plugins worth comparing in 2026, on renewal price, site limits and the job each one is actually good at. Core Forms included, with the bias named.
The best WordPress form plugin is the one whose renewal matches the job. A contact form can stay free. Payments, a CRM action or more than a handful of sites is where the tier chart starts costing real money.
I build Core Forms, so this page is the maker’s map, not a neutral lab test. Where another plugin is the better buy, the link goes to the comparison that says so. Prices for the plugins I have already compared are the September 2026 renewal figures from those pages. SureForms was checked again on its pricing page on 23 September 2026.
There are generally three ways this purchase goes wrong.
People compare a first-year coupon with someone else’s renewal.
Or they buy a free plugin and then assemble storage, spam protection and payments out of other plugins.
Or they buy the famous builder and discover the feature they needed sits two tiers up.
Quick pick
| You need | Buy |
|---|---|
| A contact form and nothing else | Contact Form 7, or Fluent Forms free, or SureForms free |
| A builder your non-technical team already knows | WPForms, if you accept the tier |
| Add-ons for odd tools, and you will pay for them | Gravity Forms |
| A listing, a graph or a form that becomes an app | Formidable Forms |
| Gutenberg, a signature, a PDF and a quiz in one paid plan | SureForms |
| One price, unlimited sites, payments and HTML you can read | Core Forms |
Core Forms is $59 a year or $249 once. Both cover unlimited sites and the same feature set. There is no free plan.
Price, the number that renews
Coupons change. The renewal is the price you live with. September 2026:
| Plugin | Price to compare | Sites at that price |
|---|---|---|
| Contact Form 7 | $0 | Unlimited |
| Forminator free | $0 | Unlimited |
| Forminator Pro | $50, $75 or $100 a year | 1, 3 or 10 |
| Fluent Forms Pro | $79, $159 or $299 a year | 1, 5 or unlimited |
| Gravity Forms | $59, $159 or $259 a year | 1, 3 or unlimited |
| WPForms | $99, $199, $399 or $599 a year at renewal | 1, 3, 5 or unlimited |
| Ninja Forms | $0, then $99, $199 or $499 a year at renewal | Unlimited, then 3, 20 or unlimited |
| Formidable Forms | $79, $199, $399 or $599 a year at renewal | 1, 3, 7 or unlimited |
| SureForms Team | $149 a year, $99 showing as the intro price | 5 |
| SureForms Agency | $229 a year, $179 showing as the intro price | 100 |
| Core Forms | $59 a year, or $249 once | Unlimited |
Fluent Forms also sells lifetime licenses at $349, $599 and $899. SureForms sells lifetime cards at $449 list for 5 sites and $749 list for 100 sites, with lower introductory figures on the same page. Its pricing page says introductory prices renew at the full price and that every paid plan includes every feature. The page title still says plans from $59 a year. The cards on the page that day were Team and Agency.
Formidable’s Basic plan charges an extra 3% on Stripe. That fee drops on Business.
What each one is for
Contact Form 7 is still the right tool when the form emails you and you are happy to add storage and spam protection yourself. It does not store submissions unless you add something like Flamingo. The Core Forms vs Contact Form 7 page is the leaving guide, and the importer is how the forms move.
WPForms is the builder most site owners already recognize. Lite is a real contact form. Payments and several CRMs sit in Pro and Elite, which renew at $399 and $599. If the shortlist is already down to two, read Core Forms vs WPForms. If you want the wider field, read WPForms alternatives.
Gravity Forms has no free version. $59 a year is the Basic license for one site, and the add-on you want may be Pro or Elite. Webhooks, surveys, polls and user registration are Elite. The add-on directory is still the largest. Read Core Forms vs Gravity Forms or the Gravity Forms alternatives.
Fluent Forms has the most useful free plugin in this list if you want entries saved without paying. Pro is where multi-step forms, the deeper payments and the larger integration list live. It is also the smoother scored-quiz builder. Read Core Forms vs Fluent Forms.
SureForms is the Gutenberg-native one, from the people who make Astra. Paid plans do not split features by tier. They split by site count. Signature, repeater, PDF, quizzes and an AI form builder are on the paid feature list. Core Forms does not ship a signature field or PDF generation. Read Core Forms vs SureForms.
Formidable Forms is the one to buy when the form has to render again as a directory, a chart or a front-end app. That is a different product from a contact form. Read Core Forms vs Formidable Forms.
Ninja Forms gives you a free core with calculations and a submissions inbox, then sells conditional logic, files and payments as the paid tiers. Read Core Forms vs Ninja Forms.
Forminator is free for a surprising amount, including quizzes, polls and one-time Stripe, because the company makes its money on the WPMU DEV membership. Pro is where subscriptions, PDF and e-signature show up. Read Core Forms vs Forminator.
The same exercise for the smaller builders: Everest Forms, MetForm, WS Form, JetFormBuilder and Happyforms.
Where Core Forms loses
A free contact form. Core Forms has no Lite.
A signature on the form, a generated PDF, or a repeater that the editor already understands. SureForms, Formidable and JetFormBuilder’s paid add-ons cover pieces of that. Core Forms does not ship a signature field.
A scored personality quiz. Fluent Forms Pro is the smoother builder for that.
Square. Gravity Forms Pro has it. Core Forms does not.
A drag-and-drop library with hundreds of templates and a team that refuses to look at HTML. WPForms is built for that team. Core Forms will feel strict.
WordPress.org distribution. Several plugins above have hundreds of thousands of active installs and a free listing. Core Forms is paid and is not in the directory. That is a real reason to pick a plugin your client has already heard of.
Where the one license matters
Payments through Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay and Polar, the native actions on the integrations page, polls, full-screen surveys, save and resume, first-party analytics and a REST backend are in the $59 license. So is software licensing if you sell the plugin or theme yourself.
If the form is HTML you want to keep as HTML, that is the other reason. The stored form is the markup. The template library is the same idea, copyable.
FAQ
What is the best free WordPress form plugin?
Contact Form 7 if you only need email. Fluent Forms free or Forminator free if you want submissions stored. SureForms free if you want the form built in Gutenberg. Free stops being enough when you need a payment or an integration that the free plugin locks.
What is the best WordPress form plugin for agencies?
Compare site caps before features. WPForms Elite renews at $599 for unlimited sites. Gravity Forms Elite is $259 for unlimited sites and still gates add-ons. SureForms Agency is 100 sites at $229 a year before the intro price. Core Forms is unlimited sites at $59 a year or $249 once. Buy the other plugin when it has a feature Core Forms does not, not because the site count looks larger.
Does Core Forms import other form plugins?
Yes for Contact Form 7, Gravity Forms, WPForms, Fluent Forms, Ninja Forms and Formidable Forms. Entries are not imported. Export them as CSV first. There is no SureForms, Forminator, Everest, MetForm, WS Form, JetFormBuilder or Happyforms importer. Those forms get rebuilt.
