Core Forms vs Formidable Forms: Views Versus a Form Plugin
Formidable Forms is a form plugin that becomes an app builder at Business and Elite. Core Forms stays a form plugin with everything bundled. Here is which job each one is for.
Formidable Forms is the WordPress form plugin people buy when the form is supposed to become a directory, a calculator dashboard or a front-end application. Core Forms vs Formidable Forms is a comparison between that app-builder path and a form plugin that keeps HTML, payments, polls and a REST backend in one license.
I build Core Forms, so read this as the maker’s view. Formidable’s prices below are from its pricing page in September 2026, at the 50% first-year promotion they were showing. Formidable Views is a real product, and there are cases where it is the reason to stay.
There are generally three ways people use Formidable.
You can buy Basic for a contact form with calculations, and never open Views.
Or you can treat Business as the real plugin the moment you want surveys, quizzes, conversational forms or payments without a 3% fee, and then discover Views was the feature you actually needed.
But being extreme isn’t a good idea at all. Formidable is an important tool when the output of the form has to render on the front end as a listing or a graph. It is wise to buy it for that job, and to pick a form plugin when the job is still “collect, store, email, pay.”
Formidable wants to be an app. Core Forms wants to be the form.
Views turn entries into pages. Core Forms keeps them in the inbox.
Quick Verdict
Formidable Forms is the better pick when you need Views: tables, grids, calendars and listings built from entries, or scored quizzes, graphs and DIY application templates. That work starts at Plus or Business.
Core Forms is the better pick when you need a form plugin with payments, webhooks, HubSpot, polls, full-screen surveys, licensing or headless HTML, without buying an application layer. That is $59 a year or $249 once, unlimited sites.
If the brief is “a directory of submissions on the front end,” Formidable Plus is the tool. Core Forms does not ship Views.
Price at Renewal
Formidable shows 50% off the first year. Renewals are full price. September 2026:
| Plan | Sites | First year | Renews at | The jump |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Formidable Basic | 1 | $39.50 | $79 | Files, multi-page, repeaters, calculations, Stripe with a 3% fee |
| Formidable Plus | 3 | $99.50 | $199 | Views, graphs, landing pages, Mailchimp |
| Formidable Business | 7 | $199.50 | $399 | Payments without the 3% fee, surveys, quizzes, conversational forms, user registration, Google Sheets, Zapier, ACF front-end |
| Formidable Elite | Unlimited | $299.50 | $599 | Salesforce, HubSpot, Authorize.net, white label, application templates |
| Core Forms Yearly | Unlimited | $59 | $59 | Everything included |
| Core Forms Lifetime | Unlimited | $249 once | nothing | Everything included |
Basic looks cheap until Stripe’s 3% plugin fee is in play. Formidable’s own page says you upgrade to Business to remove that fee. Core Forms charges no plugin fee on Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay or Polar.
Both refund within 14 days.
Views, Calculators and Quizzes
This is Formidable’s house.
Views turn entries into front-end listings. Directories, real estate lists, job boards, charts. Plus includes Views. Elite adds prebuilt application shortcuts. Core Forms stores entries in an inbox and exports CSV. It does not render a directory from those rows.
Calculations are in Formidable Basic. Core Forms can do calculated fields, and the calculator form guide walks through a quote example with a server-side check. Formidable has more calculator templates and date-math at Business.
Surveys, polls, NPS, Likert, ranking and scored quizzes sit on Business. Core Forms ships polls as a separate object with live results, and surveys as forms that can run one question at a time. It does not ship personality-quiz scoring or Likert as named field types.
If the form is an application, Formidable is the specialist. If the form is still a form, paying for Views is optional weight.
Payments and Integrations
Formidable Basic takes Stripe with a 3% fee while the license is on that tier. Business adds PayPal and the extra methods Formidable lists (ACH, Cash App, iDeal, Affirm, Klarna through Stripe), with no Formidable transaction fee on a valid license. Elite adds Authorize.net.
Core Forms has Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay and Polar, webhook-verified, no plugin fee, plus FluentCart for carts and subscriptions, plus license keys for software.
HubSpot and Salesforce are Elite on Formidable. They are a native action and an absence, respectively, on Core Forms. Webhooks and Zapier start at Business on Formidable. Webhooks are in the Core Forms license.
ACF front-end forms are a Formidable Business feature. Core Forms has an ACF action and can create posts and users. It is not an ACF form builder.
Builder and Headless
Formidable is a drag-and-drop builder with a dense field list. Core Forms is HTML you can also drag. Repeaters are a Formidable Basic feature. Conversational forms are Business. Core Forms full-screen mode is in the license.
Headless REST, first-party field drop-off analytics, form scheduling and a reply-from-inbox workflow are Core Forms features Formidable’s pricing page does not treat as the product. User Flow at Business is Formidable’s picture of the journey before submit. Core Forms analytics is views, starts, completions and last-field drop-off, stored in WordPress.
When to Pick Formidable Forms
- You need Views. Listings, calendars, graphs from entries.
- You need a scored quiz or a Likert survey as a named field set.
- You need Salesforce, Authorize.net or ACF front-end forms and Elite or Business is acceptable.
- The form is the start of a small application, not the end of a lead.
When to Pick Core Forms
- You need payments without a 3% plugin fee and without jumping to $399 a year.
- You need HubSpot, webhooks, polls or full-screen surveys without Elite or Business.
- You sell software with license keys and a customer area.
- The form should stay HTML, including on a static host that posts to WordPress.
- You run more than 7 sites and do not want Elite.
Core Forms > Migrate imports Formidable Forms through the Formidable importer. Export entries first. Views will not come across, because Core Forms has nowhere to put them.
The Limits
Formidable prices are from formidableforms.com/pricing in September 2026. The first-year 50% off is a promotion. Plan on renewal.
Core Forms is not a Formidable Views alternative. If someone searched this page hoping it was, the honest sentence is: buy Formidable Plus for Views.
No speed numbers. Researched comparison, not a benchmark.
Core Forms needs WordPress 6.4+ and PHP 8.1+.
Final Remarks
Formidable vs Core Forms is whether the form has to become a page. If entries must render as a directory, Formidable is the plugin. If entries must sit in an inbox, take payment and maybe post in from Astro, Core Forms is the plugin.
Do not buy Elite for HubSpot if that is the only extra. Do not buy Core Forms hoping Views will appear later.
The pricing page has the Core Forms terms. The Ninja Forms comparison is the other add-on ladder, and the Gravity Forms comparison is the ecosystem comparison.
