Core Forms vs Fluent Forms: Which One to Pick, and Why

Core Forms vs Fluent Forms is the closest comparison on this site, because both plugins were made by people who build WordPress sites and both ship most of what a site needs without an add-on shop. So, if you are choosing between them and the feature lists look the same from a distance, this guide can surely help you see where they differ up close.

I build Core Forms, so this is the maker’s view, with Fluent Forms’ prices and its free-versus-Pro list checked against its own pages on the day of writing. Fluent Forms is a good plugin, and there are cases below where it is the one to buy.

Quick Verdict

Fluent Forms is the better pick when you want a free plugin that goes far, because its free version has conditional logic, file uploads, conversational forms, Stripe and a handful of integrations, and Core Forms has no free version at all.

Core Forms is the better pick when the site needs PayPal, Razorpay or Polar, licensing for a software product, or a code tab that edits the form as HTML, and when the license has to cover unlimited sites without buying the top tier.

The prices and the lists that support both verdicts follow.

The Free Version

This is Fluent Forms’ strongest card and it deserves to go first. Its free-versus-Pro page lists these in the free version:

• the drag-and-drop builder, an AI form builder and conditional logic,
• conversational forms,
• file and image uploads, date pickers and address fields,
• Stripe payments,
• reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, Turnstile, Akismet and CleanTalk,
• FluentCRM, Mautic, MailPoet, Mailchimp and Slack.

That is a real form plugin for free, not a demo. A small site with a contact form, a Stripe donation and a Mailchimp signup can run on Fluent Forms free forever.

Core Forms has no free version. The comparison from here on is Fluent Forms Pro against the Core Forms license.

What Pro Adds

Fluent Forms Pro, from the same page, adds multi-step forms, save and resume, quizzes and surveys, numeric calculations, the advanced styler, landing pages, admin approval, the other payment gateways (PayPal, Razorpay, Square, Mollie, Paddle, Paystack, Authorize.net) and its 50-plus Pro integrations, including HubSpot, Salesforce, Zapier, Google Sheets and Notion.

Core Forms includes multi-step forms, save and resume, surveys and polls, full-screen forms, 4 payment gateways and 71 built-in integrations in its one license. Two things Fluent Forms Pro has that Core Forms does not: a quiz with scoring and personality results, and numeric calculations across fields as a built-in feature. If you are building a scored quiz, that decides it.

Price Per Site

Both vendors show a discount on the first year. September 2026 list prices:

The gap is on sites, not on the single-site price. A freelancer with 1 site pays $79 a year for Fluent Forms Pro or $59 a year for Core Forms, which is close. An agency with 12 client sites pays $299 a year or $899 once for Fluent Forms Unlimited, against $59 a year or $249 once for Core Forms, because every Core Forms license is unlimited sites.

Both refund within 14 days.

Payments

Fluent Forms free has Stripe, and Pro adds 7 more gateways. Core Forms has Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay and Polar, and hands off to FluentCart for carts and subscriptions.

The difference that matters is what happens after payment. Core Forms holds the submission as pending until the gateway’s signed webhook confirms the charge, then runs the actions, and it can issue a license key, handle the renewal and give the buyer an account page. That makes it a small store for software and digital products. Fluent Forms takes the payment and records it, and a store is a job for WooCommerce or FluentCart alongside it.

Integrations

Fluent Forms Pro has more integrations by count, and the 50-plus list includes Salesforce, ChatGPT and a Zapier app. Core Forms has 71 built in, and the ones it has that Fluent Forms lists as Pro or does not list at all are Pipedrive, Zendesk, Fluent Support, Resend, n8n and FlowMattic as native actions.

Two things are the same in both: FluentCRM is native, because both plugins come from the same corner of WordPress, and Slack is free in Fluent Forms and included in Core Forms.

One thing is different: the Core Forms actions for Pipedrive, Zendesk, Fluent Support, Resend, n8n and FlowMattic carry a test panel that sends a real request with sample values and shows the reply before a visitor submits. The HubSpot guide shows it.

The Builder

Fluent Forms is a drag-and-drop builder with a lot of options per field, and the settings screens are dense. Core Forms has a visual builder and a code tab that edit the same form, so the HTML is always one click away.

This is where the 2 plugins feel most different in daily use. A designer who wants a styler with color pickers gets more from Fluent Forms Pro. A developer who wants to paste a <fieldset> and have it work gets more from Core Forms. Neither is wrong, and the WPForms alternatives guide covers this preference across the whole field.

When to Pick Fluent Forms

• You want free. The free version is generous, and Core Forms has no free tier to compare it with.
• You need a scored quiz or calculations across fields. Fluent Forms Pro has both built in.
• You run 1 site and want the styler. At $79 a year the single-site price is close to Core Forms, and the advanced styler is a feature Core Forms does not have in the same form.
• You need Salesforce or a Zapier app in Zapier’s directory. Core Forms uses webhooks for Zapier and has no Salesforce action.

When to Pick Core Forms

• You run more than 1 site. Unlimited sites on every license, against $299 a year or $899 once for the same on Fluent Forms.
• You sell software or anything with a license key. Licensing, renewals and the customer area are built in.
• You need PayPal, Razorpay or Polar without buying Pro. All 4 gateways are in the one license.
• Your team writes HTML. The code tab is a real editor, and the visual builder reads what you paste.

The Limits

The Fluent Forms numbers are from its pricing and free-versus-Pro pages on September 16, 2026, at list price. The site showed a first-year discount that day, and the renewal price is the one to plan on.

This is a researched comparison of pricing pages, feature lists and Core Forms’ own code, not a benchmark. No speed numbers appear here, because neither plugin has been measured under matched conditions for this page.

Fluent Forms has a larger user base and more third-party tutorials. Core Forms is newer, and a team that learns from forum threads will find more of them about Fluent Forms.

Both are plugins on your site. Both need updates and backups, and both store entries in your database.

Yes. Core Forms > Migrate detects Fluent Forms and imports the forms you tick, with fields converted to HTML and notifications turned into Send Email actions. Entries are not imported, so export them as CSV first.

Yes. FluentCRM is a native action in Core Forms with list and tag assignment, and it works on the same site with no API key, the same as it does in Fluent Forms.
