Core Forms vs JetFormBuilder: Gutenberg Free Versus a Bundled License

JetFormBuilder is a free Gutenberg form plugin. Stripe, signatures and PDFs are Pro add-ons. Core Forms is paid, with licensing and a REST backend. Here is which to pick.

JetFormBuilder is Crocoblock’s Gutenberg form plugin. The free version on WordPress.org already does multi-step forms, repeaters, webhooks, user registration, post insert and PayPal. Core Forms vs JetFormBuilder is the choice between that free block builder plus a Pro addon pack, and a paid plugin that bundles payments, polls, licensing and headless HTML.

I build Core Forms, so you should know. JetFormBuilder free is a real developer tool, and there are sites that should stay on it.

There are generally three ways people run JetFormBuilder.

You can stay on free with Gutenberg, JetEngine and PayPal, which is a lot of form for $0 if you already live in Crocoblock.

Or you can buy Site PRO at $49 a year for Stripe, signatures, PDFs and the rest of the 20 add-ons, and then notice the real cost is the Crocoblock stack around it.

But being extreme isn’t a good idea at all. JetFormBuilder is an important Gutenberg plugin. It is wise to stay on free while the block editor and PayPal cover the brief, and to compare Core Forms when you need Polar, a lifetime that is not Crocoblock, or a form that is not a block.

JetFormBuilder is a Gutenberg form. Core Forms is HTML that Gutenberg can print.

Quick Verdict

JetFormBuilder is the better pick when the site is Gutenberg or Crocoblock, you want a capable free form with webhooks and user registration, and Stripe or PDFs can wait for the $49 Pro pack.

Core Forms is the better pick when you want Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay and Polar in one license, plus polls, first-party analytics, licensing and a REST embed that is not a Gutenberg block. It is $59 a year or $249 once, unlimited sites.

If the site is Elementor or Bricks plus JetEngine, JetFormBuilder is the native form in that ecosystem. Core Forms will still run. It will not replace JetEngine.

Crocoblock All-Inclusive and Lifetime bundles include JetFormBuilder Pro add-ons. Those are a toolkit purchase, not a form-plugin purchase. Freelance Lifetime was discontinued 27 July 2026.

Core Forms lifetime unlimited is $249. JetFormBuilder lifetime unlimited is $499. Yearly unlimited is $129 against $59.

What Free Already Includes

This should go first.

JetFormBuilder free is a Gutenberg form builder with 20-plus field types, multi-step, repeater, map, calculated fields, save record, send email, insert or update post, register and update user, call hook, call webhook, redirect, Mailchimp, GetResponse, ActiveCampaign and PayPal. File upload exists. The drag-and-drop multi-file widget is a Pro addon.

That is more free plugin than WPForms Lite and more Gutenberg-native than Core Forms’ block, which mounts a Core Forms form rather than building the form out of core blocks.

Core Forms has no free version. A Gutenberg site that only needs that list should stay on JetFormBuilder free.

Payments and Pro Add-ons

PayPal one-time is in free. PayPal recurring and Stripe (including subscriptions) are Pro add-ons. WooCommerce cart and checkout is a Pro add-on. Core Forms includes Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay and Polar, one-time on the form, subscriptions through FluentCart Pro, license keys in the plugin.

Signature, PDF attachment and drag-and-drop uploads are Pro. Core Forms includes uploads. It does not ship a signature field or a PDF generator. If the form must capture a signature or attach a PDF, JetFormBuilder Site PRO is the straight buy.

User email verification before other actions is a JetFormBuilder Pro-pack item on their pricing table. Core Forms can create users. It is not a membership suite.

Headless, Polls, HTML

JetFormBuilder forms are blocks. They live in the block editor. Dynamic data shines when JetEngine is active. That is the Crocoblock pitch.

Core Forms forms are HTML. The block is a picker. Headless REST, full-screen surveys, native polls, inbox replies and first-party drop-off analytics are in the license. JetFormBuilder can webhook. It is not a form backend for a Next.js marketing site in the same way.

If you already build with JetEngine, JetFormBuilder is the form that speaks that language. Installing Core Forms beside it is a second inbox.

When to Pick JetFormBuilder

  • The site is Gutenberg plus Crocoblock and the form should be blocks.
  • Free is enough: webhook, user register, PayPal, post insert.
  • You need Stripe subscriptions, PDF or signature and $49 a year is fine.
  • WooCommerce checkout from a form is the job. That add-on is theirs.

When to Pick Core Forms

  • You want four gateways and licensing without a Pro pack.
  • You want polls, full-screen surveys and a REST embed.
  • You write HTML, not blocks.
  • Lifetime unlimited at $249 is the budget, not $499.

There is no JetFormBuilder importer on Core Forms > Migrate. Rebuild.

The Limits

JetFormBuilder prices are from jetformbuilder.com/pricing in September 2026. Which PayPal features sit in free versus the Recurring addon can move. Their docs treat Stripe as a Pro addon.

No speed numbers. Researched comparison.

Core Forms needs WordPress 6.4+ and PHP 8.1+.

Final Remarks

JetFormBuilder vs Core Forms is whether the form is a Gutenberg block in a Crocoblock site, or a form backend you can point HTML at.

Stay on free while it covers the brief. Buy Site PRO for Stripe and PDFs. Buy Core Forms when the form has to sell software, run a poll, or live off WordPress.
