HTML Form Backend Alternatives: Formspark, Formcarry and Friends

A short map of HTML form backend alternatives beyond Formspree and Web3Forms: Formspark credits, Formcarry's cheap paid tier, Forminit and when WordPress should replace all of them.

An HTML form backend is an URL your form can POST to when the site has no PHP of its own. Formspree and Web3Forms are the names people search. The rest of the shelf is smaller, cheaper or one-time, and that is what this page is for.

I build Core Forms, which is the WordPress-shaped answer at the bottom. The hosted tools here are still the right answer when there is no WordPress.

If you already know you are leaving Formspree or Web3Forms, the dedicated Formspree alternative and Web3Forms alternative posts go deeper on those two. This one is the rest of the list, compared like with like.

What to Compare

Every form backend in this category is judged on 5 things:

  • monthly or lifetime submission cap
  • whether file uploads are on the plan you will actually pay for
  • whether an autoresponder is included
  • whether the data is a dashboard you rent or a database you own
  • whether leaving the host (Netlify, Vercel, GitHub Pages) breaks the form

Price without the cap is a slogan. The cap is the product.

The Short List

Forminit prices move, and Getform’s old pages still rank. If you are on Getform today, read Forminit’s current pricing before you migrate anywhere, including staying.

Fillout is a hosted form builder, closer to Typeform than to an HTML action. The Typeform alternatives post is the right comparison for that job.

Formspark

Formspark is the subscription objection, turned into a product. Every account starts with 1 workspace and 250 free submissions. The upgrade is a one-time bundle: 50,000 submissions, 100 forms, 50 team members. Bundles do not expire. Extra workspaces start at 0 submissions.

The HTML is an action of https://submit-form.com/{form-id}. No JavaScript required. Spam filtering is on every plan. Autoresponder, custom templates, webhooks, Sheets and Notion sit on the paid workspace.

Stay here if you want Formspree’s job without Formspree’s yearly invoice. Leave if you need the row in WordPress, or if 50,000 credits still feels like a meter you do not want to watch.

Formcarry

Formcarry is the cheap paid HTML endpoint. Baby is free: 1 form, 50 submissions a month. Starter is $5 a month billed yearly ($6 billed monthly): unlimited forms, 500 submissions, 1 GB of uploads, 3 seats. Basic is $15 a month billed yearly for 2,000 submissions. Premium is $80 a month billed yearly for 30,000.

Their FAQ still quotes slightly higher monthly sticker prices. The cards on the pricing page in September 2026 are the yearly numbers above. Yearly is how they want you to buy.

Stay here if 500 a month and a file field is the whole need, and $60 a year is the budget. Leave when 1 form on Baby becomes 2 forms, or when the row should be in a CMS you already run.

Forminit, formerly Getform

Getform rebranded to Forminit. Old “Getform alternative” pages are still out there, including Formcarry’s. Treat current Forminit pricing as the source, not a 2023 comparison table.

The product is still an HTML form backend with a dashboard and integrations. If a site is already posting to a Getform endpoint, the migration question is Forminit’s own export and URL change, not a greenfield pick. I have not walked that migration, so I am not going to write the click path.

How to Choose in One Pass

  • Static site, tiny volume, email only: Web3Forms free.
  • Static site, no subscription: Formspark paid bundle.
  • Static site, small paid bill, files: Formcarry Starter.
  • Static site, plugins and a dashboard: Formspree Personal or Professional.
  • Site stays on Netlify: Netlify Forms.
  • WordPress already exists: Core Forms as the form backend.

The HTML form to email guide is the mechanism. This page is the shelf.

The Limits

These tools all store the row on their servers. Export is not a backup strategy unless you actually run it. For applications, invoices or anything with a retention duty, WordPress or another database you dump nightly is the more honest backend.

I did not run a matched spam test across Formspark and Formcarry. Their marketing agrees that filtering is on. Your honeypot and a domain restriction still earn their place.

Final Remarks

An HTML form backend alternative is usually a cap you like better, not a different kind of form. Formspark sells credits. Formcarry sells a cheap month. Formspree sells a dashboard. WordPress sells an inbox you already back up.

Pick the cap you will not hit. Then send one test with a word you can search, and do not call it done until that word is in an inbox or a table you control.

Build the form. Stop reading.

Every note here came out of a real Core Forms setup.
